Mountain villages of Siberia
|
Agape Health Kits provide some basic medicines that people in the isolated rural areas of Russia can not get.
|
The Teleuit, an unreached people group, lives in the mountains of Siberia near Kazakhstan. There are only approximately 3,000 Teleuits left.
Agape went to their region to help them with their medical problems and to share about God's love before they disappear forever. It was a FANTASTIC expedition! There was a tremendous interest in the clinics and WHY we had come. We saw over 750 patients, gave away 350 health kits to those who could not come to the clinic. In all, nearly every person in the entire nation received medical help and heard about God's love.
Medical kits were given away to invalids and other social outcasts in every village. The response to our medical team was tremendous.
We have found the medical clinics and health kits to be THE most powerful tools that have been invented for sharing God's love here in Russia.

Medical clinic in TeePee

Agape Health Kits meet Russian Federation standards and are fully accepted by the Ministry of Health for distribution to these remote areas. The cost of the kit is $20.00, which includes the cost of delivery to the "local teepee door". Agape Health kits are NOT given out in bulk. We give them out to individual families who receive an explanation of the Gospel with each one

In March an Agape medical team traveled to the extreme northern part of Russia. To an area which when translated literally means "The Ends of the Earth". The Nenets (Eskimos) who inhabit the area worship the sun, moon, rivers, and reindeer. Sometimes they also drink the animal's blood. It is a very dark place spiritually, but we have found that the LIGHT of Christ is readily received.
We had an excellent chance to share Christ with the native population. People came to the clinics from everywhere on the tundra. They came by reindeer sleigh, snowmobile, or on foot. We had one pregnant lady who traveled two hours by reindeer sleigh to see us. Another patient traveled six hours by reindeer sleigh in -40F temperatures; and still, another man traveled 24 hours (all day and all night) by reindeer sleigh to see our doctors!
From this northernmost settlement, we traveled even further into the tundra where people live in teepee villages. In one such village there were five teepees. There are several new believers in this village, and what a thrill it was for us to see one lady sitting on a snow bank, in her reindeer coat, reading her Bible in front of her teepee home! During our medical clinic several people made decisions for Christ and there was no opposition to our sharing God's love with any of them. They are even talking about building a teepee church to take around on the tundra. All the Nenets in the village are very open to this idea.
The response to God's love in this region is awesome! People have NOT heard and do NOT know about God and His love, but they WANT too. These people are READY and WANT to listen, and that provides the opportunity for a real harvest! We would like to go back to this place again, and we pray for more laborers to come with us and help with the Medical, Dental, and Eye problems.

Medical clinic in Yurt

This was an AWESOME expedition! The local church saw many decisions for Christ; in addition to that, there were SEEDS sown, which we hope, will bring forth fruit in the future. There were about 5,000 who heard the Gospel, and saw God's love in our deeds. They were very interested in WHY we were doing this. They came up to us and asked for Bibles (we passed out all we had, and still people came asking for more). People would come up to our group and say, "I want to know about God." We can honestly say that a LOT of people, who knew nothing or very little about God, were very interested in knowing and learning more. There is no doubt in any of our minds that God is working mightily in this region!
There was a Buddhist temple in one of the villages we visited. The lama (a Buddhist priest) came to the Agape team and asked many questions, such as "Does God knows Buddha?" We shared with him about Jesus, and he accepted Christ! People in these areas are searching for God, but they have had no one to tell them about His great love. It is wonderful that God let us come to here help the people with both their medical and spiritual problems.
Without doubt, we all agree, this was the BEST trip ever. The combination of a great medical team alongside a loving and compassionate team produced tremendous results.

Agape "school kit" and the Bible
|
This expedition was intended to go into villages and towns that surround a small northern town where our Agape Arctic Center is located. Agape shared the Love of God by giving away Agape health kits while the local church handed out Christian books, Bibles, literature, food, and clothing to orphans, invalids, and bed-ridden people. Agape visited 13 villages and shared Jesus with 2,000 people.
About 2/3 of the people in Russia live in the rural areas, and their lives are terrible. The saddest thing is that all these people have almost no knowledge of God or the joy and hope that only He can give.
The orphanages, schools, and homes were in terrible condition, but the people work hard with the little they have. The orphans sometimes don't have spoons, plates, or cups from which to eat and drink. We had a fantastic opportunity to share God's love with these wonderful people and see the interest and excitement in their eyes when they learned for the first time about Jesus.

Siberia Expedition, September
|
Agape went to a very remote Siberian village with the medical clinic. To get there, we flew all night from Moscow, then traveled 10 hours by bus, then 4 hours in a 6x6 truck, then we put our medicines and equipment into the boat and traveled up the river for 4 hours.

Medical clinic in the village that was founded by the children of Alcoholic parents, in order to get away from the world.

On this expedition Agape traveled to the southern mountains of Siberia to help an unreached people group called the Shorshkee. The villages were the most isolated and remote Agape has ever been to. One village required that we travel by boat for over three hours and by 6x6 trucks into places that even the government does not send doctors. One day we would travel by boat and the next day we would travel by helicopter to the most remote and poorest villages we have ever been to. We met people who truly wanted to know about God and why we came. We even met people who had never before heard the name of Jesus! We gave out over 1,408 Bibles and distributed health kits to over 1,000 people.
Now nearly everyone in these remote villages has heard about the love of God. It is always amazing now OPEN people are to hearing about God. Our Bibles and literature were "snapped up" in a heartbeat, and the people were still asking for more! They were eager and hungry to hear about God. The government authorities were also impressed with our desire to help these isolated villages, and they are ready to cooperate with us even more in the future.
On this trip we also returned to some of the villages we had visited on an earlier expedition. We found that people there had been reading the literature and were anxious to learn about how they could be Christians! God is awesome; we just need to OBEY Him and GO where He leads us.

Christmas Gifts for Orphans and Invalids

"My First Bible in pictures"

|
On this Christmas expedition, over 1,000 people saw God's love through Agape Health Kits, school kits, food, and clothes. Many cried and ask Christ to come into their lives. Hundreds more were touched by the Christian literature, Agape health kits, school kits, and our personal testimonies about God. During these two weeks, Agape visited orphanages, schools, WW II veterans, invalids, nursing homes, rehabilitation homes, homeless shelters, private homes, and a hospice. We shared the love of God and the Good News about the birth of Christ to over a thousand people. Most of them knew nothing or very little about God. In response to our question: "Where was Jesus born?" the children would answer "in a church", "in Russia", "in the USA", etc. They had no idea about the Christmas story.
Agape visited villages where we had done medical clinics 5-8 years ago. The people still remember the Agape teams. Now there are new believers, and they want Agape to return and bring others to help them tell more people about God's love. We had people come up to us holding a Bible or New Testament that we had given them years ago. The Bibles had been well read, and most of their owners were now believers! The local church has done a great job with follow-up. Still this is only a "microscopic scratch" of what needs to be done. We pray for MORE LABORERS to come and help!

Russia has about 150 million people... and nearly 100 million people live in the rural areas. Agape has more opportunities to SERVE than we can meet in our lifetime. Agape is the only Medical Organization doing Christian Mobile Medical expeditions at the Ends of the Earth because it is too hard to get there and too expensive. Only "together" we can do what God has asked us to do... take the Gospel to the Ends of the Earth! We invite you to "BE INVOLVED". Better yet, we invite you to COME to the harvest !
