Moscow English Program

Are you interested in serving through Agape but don't feel called to go on an expedition? This is your big chance! Come support our Russian staff in their work at the Agape Medical Center in Moscow by employing your skills in the English language. As the world becomes a much smaller place thanks to technology and international travel, English skills are becoming as crucial as medical skills!  We invite you to volunteer as an English tutor for Agape staff and personnel in a two-week individualized tutoring program. You will teach up to six one-hour lessons each weekday.  Come help us develop Agape’s full potential!

Teaching English is also a great way to see Russia….You will be free most evenings, and we will be happy to help you find a translator for a small cost to accompany you as you explore Moscow. Don’t miss the opportunity to see the grandeur of Russia while investing your talent in a worthy cause!

Trip Costs

The cost for the 2-week program is $1800 per person or $1000 for a 1-week program. The program begins on a Saturday and ends on a Saturday. An initial deposit of $1000 is required to reserve your space in the program, and the balance is due 8 weeks before departure. Non- US residents may pay upon arrival in Moscow or through our secure web page by clicking here.

We can accommodate only a small number of volunteers each year.

Additional Costs

Visa / LOI (Letter of Invitation)

A visa is required for travel to Russia, and a LOI is required to apply for your visa. Once we receive your program application, and you have been approved, we will begin helping you through this process. Since some of our visitors already have a Russian visa, the costs of these documents are not included in your trip fee. The LOI will cost $70. After receiving your LOI, you may apply for your visa. The cost for your Russian visa will usually run $150, but can be as much as $350 for same day processing. To become more familiar with obtaining a visa to Russia, please see the following Websites: www.russianembassy.org or www.traveldocs.com (for applicants from the US).

Transportation to Moscow

Because our team members arrive from Europe, Canada, USA, and even the Far East, our fee is based upon “arrival” in Moscow and does not include air/train tickets to and from Moscow.

Food

To allow for individual tastes and flexibility, the program does NOT include lunch, dinner and any snacks; you may buy what you want to eat for these meals. There are several small Russian stores and markets near our guest apartment, and we have a kitchen where you can cook. Our staff may even cook for you, if you buy a little extra food!

Optional Extras

Translators

On weekday evenings, after program hours, we will be happy to provide a translator to accompany you around the city. The cost is usually about $30 per 4 hours.  Excursions such as concerts, the world renown Bolshoi ballet (about $100), the famous Moscow Circus (about $15), and Kremlin or Armory tours (about $20 each) can be arranged at your expense.
